The Llangollen Round
The Llangollen Round is an exhilarating high-level walk. Much of the route is over open heather moorland whereraptors of all kind abound, but there are also sections through deciduous and coniferous forest, and crossings of the River Dee on the old stone bridge at Carrog and on Telford's famous aqueduct. Views from the heights are magnificent, ranging from Snowdonia to the mountains of Mid-Wales and the distant Shropshire Hills. But the centrepiece is Llangollen, and it is never far from sight, cradled in the green valley below. The Round can be regarded as a 1-day challenge or taken at a more leisurely pace over 2, 3, or 4 days. The booklet details all these possibilities, along with comprehensive route directions and transport information to help you plan your walk.
