Who Are The Lions? Lions are ordinary people within their local community who willingly volunteer some of their time to humanitarian causes in the local and global communities. To achieve this, they become members of their local Lions Clubs. In addition to being members of their own local Club, Lions are members of THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS which is usually abbreviated to LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL. Littlehampton's Coastguard Rescue Officers are all trained volunteers from the local Arun District community. We help maintain the Government's statutory obligation to provide a constant UK maritime and coastal Search and Rescue (SAR) capability. The team operates across a fifteen mile stretch of popular Sussex coastline, extending between Ferring, near Worthing, (to the east), and Pagham Harbour (to the west). In addition, the team also operates inland, along the ten mile navigable course of the River Arun, as it meanders from Littlehampton via Ford, Arundel, and Amberley, to Pulborough. Like all other '999' emergency services, H.M. Coastguard will respond to all maritime and coastal emergencies, or relative public concerns, at any time of the day or night. During 2012, the Littlehampton Coastguard were mobilised to 98 incidents. Arun Divers is a friendly dive club based in Worthing, West Sussex. We have our own boat at Littlehampton marina and currently train at the aquarena swimming pool in worthing town. Diving is an exciting sport and anyone can do it. Arun divers also like to get involved with charity work so every year we have a club event where we jump off the red bridge in littlehampton to raise money for local causes.
