Class Details: There is no membership fee. Each session costs £5, and the sessions cover a mixture of fitness work and kickboxing instruction. After the initial warm up and stretches, there will be some time spent on exercises designed to improve your strength, balance, stamina and flexibility. Next, we then start to teach you the basic moves of kickboxing -, footwork, hand craft, speed, balance, etc. There is so much to learn, and we try to do this at your own pace, emphasis is placed on safety, and all partner work is closely monitored. It takes time, hard work, and it takes commitment, without this commitment you will not progress. Kickboxing is a hard sport, and it requires hard work. If you put in this hard work, the results can be seen very quickly indeed.Absolutely anyone will benefit from kickboxing training, general fitness will improve, and self belief, confidence, and a feeling of well being will be achieved.
Instructors CV: Rob Wood has been teaching kickboxing for in excess of 27 years, he started in the art of Sun Kune Do in 1985/6, going on to gain his black-belt. His instructor, Steve Joseph, was & still is, regarded by Rob and many others to be one of the most skillful martial artists in the u.k. Steve Joseph was a former British-European & world title holder in full contact kickboxing. Rob learned Thai boxing under Bill Judd for two years. Bill, one of the top u.k. trainers, is the head of the K.O. gym, which has produced many quality fighters over several years. Rob has also studied Tae Kwondo for two years; judo-boxing, for 4 years & karate (1st Dan). He has based his teaching on all of his acquired knowledge, gained in over twenty years of contact sports. Having sparred with some of the Britain's best boxers (Nigel Benn, Julius Francis and Mark Kaylor) Rob feels he can rightly claim to be experienced. Rob has competed in boxing & kickboxing, in both light & full contact fighting. His career has covered more than twenty years, though now at the age of 43, he is only sparring, not fighting.He is a kickboxing judge & referee, and has been in charge of many world class title fights, all over the country & Europe, over many years.
