In March 2012 Penarth Youth Project launched a new programme entitled “Crossing Boundaries Challenging Perception” which is supported by the Big Lottery Fund. This project has two main focuses. One is to develop, empower and enhance the future prospects of young people coping with behaviour issues across the Autistic Spectrum Disorder(ASD) which can lead to isolation and difficulty building and maintaining relationships.
The other is a life skills programme for young people and their families providing information and support to promote family cohesion and an introduction to training, education, employment opportunities and services to help sustain a lifelong constructive attitude. This programme deals with issues such as health and well being as well as alcohol and substance use awareness.
“Crossing Boundaries Challenging Perception” was the offspring of the “Peered Up” project which through its highly successful run, identified the need for this new project.
In addition the charity continues to operate other worthwhile youth services in partnership with both the statutory and voluntary sector, providing support, information, accreditation, activities and a voice for young people across the Vale of Glamorgan.
