Luton Neighbourhood Watch
The Steering Group’s main purpose is working towards improved quality of life by promoting communication links between residents, statutory bodies and other organisations, in order to reduce crime.
NW in Luton is made up of approximately 250 schemes, operated by coordinators who communicate with their members to achieve local objectives around community safety, improving quality of life, preventing crime and reducing fear of crime. NW is open to all and free to join.
Schemes vary covering 8 households to over 100. The coordinator is the key communication link.
The Steering Group operates to support these coordinators, assist new schemes and engage with agencies, including Bedfordshire Police, to achieve the safer confident communities we deserve.
The Steering Group’s key objectives are to:
Develop and maintain active co-operation of all sections of the community, regardless of: faith; sexuality; gender, age and disability, in reducing criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.
Develop good working relationships, co-operation and partnerships with the Police, Local Authority and other organisations.
