The Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Nova Asum (New Evesham)

The Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Nova Asum (New Evesham)

Parliament Bandstand, Crown Meadow City, Evesham ,
The Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Nova Asum (New Evesham) is due to become a break-away micronation aimed at establishing Evesham, UK, as a self governing republic. Most aspects of statehood have already been put in place by the New Evesham Liberation Army, and as soon as we hold elections on our President and Prime Minister, we will declare ourselves free from UK territory and law. Liberation day is aimed for the 1st day of June 2012. The Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Nova Asum has its own postal Service, stamps, currency, railway, coral (shopping trolly) reef, public holidays, cinema, space program, national football team and time zone. The locals of Evesham town had slowly become more and more disgruntled with the collapse of the towns heritage, culture, and general bleakness, and so it apparent that a republic was to be formed so to give local people more hope, prosperity and better standard of living. Our nation is still in the early stages of development as we build up for a split from mainland UK but within the coming weeks we expect to have candidates to stand for President and Prime Minister. The elected Prime Minister of our brave young nation will be sworn into Parliament Bandstand in our capital, Crown Meadow City and serve a one year term before re-election and the President will serve a five year term. We are proud to the be the worlds first Pastafarian nation. We are dedicated to tolerance towards other religions and cultural backgrounds but offer no special exceptions to them as we are a secular state promoting free thinking, science and nature. May the flying spaghetti monster bless us all with His Noodly Appendage.

Market Square, Evesham ,
imaGine has been set up by Transition Evesham Vale to provide a community meeting place in the heart of Evesham. Based in the former 'Homestyle' shop in the Market Square, it is already providing a shop window for local events and community organisations. Established as an experiment in communication and public engagement it already has an exciting range of attractions including the following: 'Books for Free' - In partnership with national charity 'Healthy Planet', an initiative to give readers a source of books, and reduce the quantities going to landfill. Community Art - a place for local artists to display their work and meet fellow artists from Evesham and the Vale. Artists workshops are also planned for the near future Roundabout Furniture - a town centre presence for the wonderful furniture re-use charity based in Blackminster Future activities planned include A display by Evesham Civic Society sharing thoughts and ideas for their future vision of Evesham Clutterbusters - a service to help people 'de-clutter' their houses and raise money for good causes Thinkers' corner - a meeting of minds and a place for enlightened conversation A 'Repair Café' where you bring along things that need mending, and repairers bring them back to life. Transition Evesham Vale (TEV) initiatives are helping people and communities shift towards a more sustainable future, by growing and eating more local food, reducing their energy consumption, and adopting lower carbon means of transport. TEV sees imaGine as a catalyst for change, working with local communities, exploring sustainability, discovering how we can work together for a healthier, happier, lower carbon future. We hope to open imaGine every day of the week, but are currently limited by the number of available volunteers. If you enjoy reading, meeting like-minded people, and would like to support moves towards a more sustainable future for Evesham, please contact Robin on rwoffenham@gmail.com. Please visit us and see our ideas Egg - you are welcome to add what you would like to see as part of imaGine - and help us to nurture these ideas and make them hatch.
