Caradon Befriending Scheme
Established in 1993, Caradon Befriending Scheme is a small registered charity providing safe ‘one to one’ support to local people over the age of 18 who are experiencing mental or emotional health problems.
1 in 4 people will be affected by mental health problems at some point in their life. Although common, stigma and discrimination towards those who experience mental ill health still exists and many people find themselves cut off from their families and friends and isolated from their communities. The resulting loneliness, loss of confidence and low self esteem can significantly hamper recovery, health improvement and overall wellbeing.
Befriending can provide:
Emotional and Practical Support
Help to enable people to access community facilities
Increased confidence and self esteem
Empowerment and positive steps towards recovery
Support for carers
Less pressure on other health and social care services
