The school has approximately 1250 pupils.In 1959 the school was visited by the Duchess of Kent in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Mother's Clubs in Buckinghamshire. The school is also notable as the location where the jury retired to consider their verdict in the Great Train Robbery case in 1963. Specifically the jury used the room that is now the main office of the youth centre on the school site.Notable alumni include Ellen White, (England Ladies Footballer), Brendan Carr, John Otway, Iain Rogerson, Matt Phillips, and Robert Hall.The Grange is a member of the Aylesbury Vale Leading Edge Partnership which also includes Aylesbury Vale Academy and Waddesdon Church of England School.

The SCC is a nationwide voluntary youth organisation; open to young people aged 10 to 18. Junior Sea Cadet sections, where locally established, are open to young people aged 10 to 12 years of age. Those aged from 13 to 18 may also join Royal Marines Cadet Detachments (RMCD), where established within Sea Cadet Units, as Royal Marines Cadets. The Corps welcomes young people and adults of all abilities, within the bounds of safety to themselves and others, and actively seeks to widen the diversity of its membership. It is affiliated to the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), the major representative body for United Kingdom youth organisations and is represented by NCVYS on the Council of the National Youth Agency.
