The Athletic Union, also known as the AU, is comprised of 75 sports clubs. We're part of the Students' Union and cater for individuals that play at all levels. With over 4,500 members in a variety of sports clubs - from American Football to Wakeboarding and Ultimate Frisbee to Cricket, we are one of the largest Athletic Union's in the country. Sport fixtures are generally played on Wednesday afternoons and weekends. We have access to a variety of different sports facilities including a 76 acre outdoor sports ground, a top class sports centre and a watersports centre to name a few. We also host an annual Varsity event against the University of Portsmouth in which we compete to win the coveted Varisty trophy. The University of Southampton has won this 4 years in a row and looks set to continue this streak. At the end of each year we have an AU Ball which celebrates the success of all clubs of the past year. In recent years it has been held in the Southampton Guildhall with guest speakers invited.
