Perth Music Expo
Perth College UHI is to host Perth Music Expo 2013, Perth's only music industry networking conference, taking place in the Goodlyburn campus at 10am on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th March.
10 am Thursday 28th March
· Making Money Making Music: with David Scott (The Pearlfishers), Rod Jones (Idlewild) and Ian MacKinnon (Selective Service) discussing how to carve a career todays music industry.
· Keynote speaker Ronnie Gurr, former V2 A&R credited with signing Stereophonics.
Live performances from Conquering Animal Sound (Chemikal Underground Records), whose debut album The List described as “draped in eerie, astral electronica, iridescent guitar ripples and heavenly, disembodied vocals”, alongside Copper Lungs and competition winners The Age.
10 am Friday 29th March
· Live Music in Scotland: with Andy Dunlop, tour manager (Twin Atlantic), Steve Robertson (Ironworks) Inverness and Belladrum Festival and Stephen Hume from Stirling’s Tolbooth discussing the live music industry in Scotland.
· Employability in the Music Industry: with Jim Gellatly, DJ and columnist, Louise Henderson from No Half Measures Management and Sheena McDonald from the Musicians’ Union discussing the relevant skills required to gain employment in the music industry.
Live Performances from Young Aviators (Electric Honey Records), The Herald described as “bouncing between scrappy, Libertines-style punk, grunge and power-pop,” Bear Arms and competition winners, Tailors.
