Male and Female Karate Instructors Karate means “empty hand” and its origins can be traced back to China, though the island of Okinawa is often regarded as its birthplace. As a sport karate can help to develop strength, fitness , flexibility and spirit whilst at the same time increasing confidence and an awareness of self-defence. The style of karate practiced by our club is Shukokai, which means “the way for all”, and was introduced to England in 1968 by Japanese Senseis Tani and Kimura. Though sadly, both Senseis are now no longer with us, their legacy remains as strong as ever, with Shukokai continuing to be well recognised and regarded. As a new member, you become part of the Zetsurin family and as such will be supported by your Senseis and fellow students as you embark on your karate journey. The OFFICIAL Facebook site for Otley Town Football Club. Otley Town are one of the oldest established Amateur football Clubs in the Wharfedale Area, being able to trace it's roots back to between the wars. The club as it now stands was formed by a merger of Dawson Payne & Elliot and Otley FC which took place in or around 1972. The club has junior teams from under 7's to under 17's, an academy team which plays open age in the West Yorkshire Alliance Division 2 and acts as a link to our two senior teams. Our senior teams comprise of the reserve team who play in the Harrogate Premier League, and the first team who play in the West Yorkshire Premier League which is now recognised as a step 7 feeder league in the national league pyramid system. In recent years the club has had considerable success, with ther first team recently winning the District Cup for the third consecutive year, and also achieving an impressive fourth position in the final league standings. The club wants to go from strength to strength and encourages new members at all levels to join. Senior training this season commences from July 3rd at the Old Showground, Otley for a 7:00pm start.

In the 2007/2008 season they won the National Division Two title securing an immediate return to National Division One having been relegated the previous season. Founded in 1865 it broke away from the RU in 1895. It restarted as a RU club in 1908 In 1979 Cross Green was the site of a famous victory by the North of England against the mighty All Blacks. The Wallabies suffered the same fate in October, 1988. Cross Green also hosted a match between the United States and Italy during the 1991 Rugby Union World Cup.
