High Street Baptist Church is literally on the High Street in Merthyr Tydfil - on the opposite side of the street to Barclay's Bank and Peacocks. It is the oldest English language Baptist chapel in Merthyr Tydfil and a Grade II listed building. There is refurbished hall behind the main building. We are a growingly active and lively congregation with lots going on for everyone.

Merthyr Vale is a linear village in the Welsh county borough of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan. Lying on the A4054 road it is on the east bank of the River Taff opposite Aberfan.Ynys OwenYnys Owen, which translates from Welsh to English as Owain’s riverside meadow, has been claimed by some to possibly commemorated Owain Glyn Dwr, whose followers were involved in an uprising around 1400. The area was referred to and written as Ynys Owen as early as 1630, noting that the narrow valley was heavily wooded, with various traditional Tyddyns (long-house farms) marking out the various rural farming territories.DevelopmentThere had been small scale coal extraction at Danyderi and Perthygleision, but in 1869 John Nixon started development of the Taff Colliery, later to be known as the Merthyr Vale Colliery. The village immediately grew up around the shaft development, as did the later communities of Aberfan, Nixonville and Mount Pleasant. Completed in 1875, when the first commercial coal was brought up, there was a celebration called in the local Windsor Hotel.

Trelewis is a small village in the Taff Bargoed Valley of south-east Wales, currently located in the southern part of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council area. It is a former mining village and together with nearby Bedlinog was until 1974 part of the Gelligaer Urban District Council area of the county of Glamorgan.

A new Animation-production facility based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales

Con Voce was formed in the autumn of 2007 in the Borough of Merthyr Tydfil Glamorgan, South Wales. UK. The choir has some 20 members, Soprano, Contralto, Tenor and Bass and meets weekly in High Street Baptist Church in Merthyr Tydfil on Monday evenings. The Choir provides its members with the opportunity to continue to develop and share their musical talents through participation in a small SATB group. The Choir’s prime objective is to promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in appreciation of the art of music by the presentation of public concerts of great choral music. Con Voce is a group of musicians, many of whom are Music teachers or who have had many years of choral training and share a passion in performing. It demands commitment and in return, gives immense pleasure to both audiences and singers. The Choir’s Musical Director, Mr Jonathan Gulliford, is ably supported at the piano by Mr Michael Jones. The choristers mainly hail from the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil but the group has attracted members from Cynon Valley and Caerphilly also.
