Sackville School
Sackville School introduced itself to me, as I suspect it has to countless others, via an inspirational driveway winding through beautiful grounds. As arresting as this was, my initial impressions were dominated more by Sackville's character which is instantly enveloping and uniquely tangible. This is definitely a school about people, relationships and ethos, more than bricks and mortar.
Sackville prides itself in the way it cares for individuals and, to this end, benefits from being slightly smaller than most senior schools. Class sizes are kept deliberately low and our teachers are trained in teaching effectively to such classes. We work hard, very hard, to get the most from every child in our care.
My own belief in the traditional values of education is reflected in the ethos of the school. The students wear uniforms, stand when an adult enters the room, and are expected to be well-mannered and polite. We celebrate the value of sports, art and drama here and believe in education as a complete experience. Additionally, and most importantly, we believe that excellent teachers are more than mere instructors and should excite, energise and inspire their pupils.
Above all, the overriding quality that differentiates Sackville is that it is simply a thoroughly pleasant place to be. I can still remember the sense of contentment which embraced me on my first visit. Teachers and students alike are proud of their school and enjoy being part of its community.
I trust that you will enjoy our website. However, this remarkable place can only be truly appreciated in person. I hope that you can find time to visit us and I look forward to meeting with you.
