Hackney Secrets
Hackney, particularly the landscape, has long been unfairly stereotyped with negativity, as confirmed by our Market Research whereby one local resident called it “mucky and unappealing.” Despite this bias long existing, not many people have done much to amend it or try to rebrand Hackney’s name – we are.
Living and growing up in Hackney, this bias has prompted us to start up a project called Hackney Secrets; comprising of 8 Sixth form students from Clapton Girls’ Academy. Our primary aim is to eradicate the negative stereotypes often associated with the landscape of our borough by framing beautiful and natural photographs of various Hackney areas in local hotspots. By doing so, commuters and residents of the borough will be able to appreciate the beauty of Hackney, which they would otherwise not see in their daily lives or even know exist! Ultimately, this project will allow us to showcase the true beauty of Hackney that was ever-present yet concealed.
*Update* We have recently been awarded a £300 grant from the O2 THINK BIG scheme, bringing us one step closer to making our project a 3D reality! :D Watch this space!
