Rob and Les Rawlins began breeding alpacas in Wiltshire in the 1990′s. Their breeding plan involved the finest alpacas they could source for their herd. This paid off with an outstanding herd of top quality UK sourced alpacas. Careful selection culminated in successfully breeding a white stud male alpaca, ‘Wellground Farleigh’ who won the ‘Supreme Champion’ Award at Europe’s biggest Alpaca Show, the 2004 Royal Bath and West Show. Many more Supreme Champion awards were won by Wellground bred alpacas in the years that followed. Since 2006, Wellground Alpaca Stud have been breeding alpaca stud stock from their imported Australian elite alpaca herd, using a selective breeding plan to create a core herd of some of the finest fleece producing alpacas available in the UK today, described by Rob as alpacas of Quality rather than Quantity. Animals with wonderfully fine and bright fleeces that are not only highly sought after, but are resident in the UK without all the extra worry and expense of importing them from the other side of the World. Alpacas with elite Australian genetics are here now.

The Pre-School is located next to the village Primary School and we have strong links with the Staff and children there and in the wider community. We are registered with Ofsted to provide for 26 children from the age of 2 to 5 years of age at any one time. We also offer before and after school care, including holidays, for children up to the age of 11. Having been open for only five months Ofsted found us to be a strong ‘good’ in all areas of provision. With our ongoing plans for development we are confident we will achieve outstanding in future inspections. Handmade by Housewives is the dream of Trish & Becky, 2 friends both with a passion for fabrics and all things handmade. Handmade By Housewives started making in January 2009 over a pot of coffee, homemade carrot cake and a collection of gorgeous fabrics, initially hand decorating jute shopping bags now affectionately known as the 'Bratton Bag'. Since then we have grown and are now producing an extensive range of beautiful fabric home accessories and gifts which we adore and hope that you will too! We've tried a lot of different products over the years, some of our long standing favourites are lavender hearts, mice & pillows, jute shopping bags, fabric bread baskets, trinket baskets, felt & crochet corsages and our truly gorgeous chicken doorstops!
