So what is the story? Launch Ballymoney Borough into 2012 with the ground-shaking agenda of community determination with a target of sustainability and energy self-sufficiency by 2025.

Ballymoney Detachment Army Cadet Force

Cadets can travel all around the counrtry participating in many different activities, there is the band which provides the oppertunity to learn a new instrument, achieve a BTEC award and travel to camps in Longmoor and Altcar as well as travelling to Malta or Gibraltar for concerts as part of the massed bands. Shooting can take a cadet around the country to Bisley as well as many other places. Cadets also have the oppertunity to represent their country at many sports such as football, hockey, swimming, tug of war, rugby and cross country. Some of the best cadets in the Tug-of-War can represent the Army Cadet Force as a whole at international championships in counrties such as South Afica. The detachment already has three cadets who are currently on the batallion tug-of-War team.

The group has been successfully running for over 30 years and in 2008 received a very good grade in their inspection by the Department of Education for Northern Ireldand (DENI). The group operates five mornings per week from 9.00am until 11.30am and four afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Trinity Church Hall. The Playgroup is registered with the Causeway Health and Social Services Trust and is affiliated to the Early Years Organisation. A Management Committee is elected by and from the parents at the Annual General Meeting. STAFF Playgroup Leader - Barbara Hill (NVQ3) First Aid Trained Playgroup Assistants - Eileen Elliott (NVQ3) First Aid Trained Michelle Spence (NVQ3) First Aid Trained Linda Glass (NVQ3) Our staff ratios complies with that stated by Health & Social Services which is one staff to 8 children in playgroup and one staff to 3 children on outings. OUR CURRICULUM We at playgroup provide the following activities Sand, Water, Paint, Dough/Clay, Junk Art, Construction, Table Top Toys, Writing & Drawing, Small World Toys, Home Corner, Music, Cookery, Physical Play, Wood Work. We hope to promote the six areas of learning through these activities.
