We are a friendly club who pride ourselves on catering for all abilities so whether male or female, with years of experience or have never been on a horse before we have something for everyone.
Lessons: We hold weekly lessons for beginners on Wednesday afternoon and also Monday evening for more advanced riders. Lessons will cost £20 and transport is provided. Places are allocated on a sign up so you can come if and when you like. The yard is a well-run with a friendly atmosphere and a good selection of horses for all abilities. The facilities include large indoor school, floodlit outdoor school and a jumping paddock. If you are a complete beginner why not sign up for our Give-it-a-Go day, where you will get to see what it’s like.
Team: For those with competitive experience we have two teams who compete in the British Universities League and the Scottish Universities Championships. Last year was a very successful year with the team placing second in Scotland. The competitions involve each rider competing in dressage and show jumping with the aim of the competition to test the riders’ ability on an unknown horse. Team training takes place Monday evenings at Pathhead and team members will have the opportunity of varied trainings at numerous different venues to improve their confidence on unknown horses. Our coach is Carol Stanley (registered BHS [British Horse Society] AI coach and free-lancer). Try outs for teams shall take place early in semester 1. If interested contact Kirsty or sign up at fresher’s fayre for more information.
Polo: As a member of the club you will have the luxury of participating in polo lessons and competitions if you wish. Lessons are held in Kinross by Thom bell (qualified as a Grade 3 HPA Instructor) priced at £30, which includes horse and equipment hire. This is a great opportunity to experience a different aspect of Equestrianism.
Social: Both in and out of the saddle we are a very sociable club. Throughout the year we hold numerous social activities ranging from beach rides to Blues & Colours ball, cinema outings to Christmas dinner and lots of great nights out in between. Our fortnightly Wednesday social sessions are held in our sponsor pub Medina, who provide free food and discounted drinks leading to great banter.
We look forward to meeting you and if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact any of us or come along for a chat at the sports fayre.
