Chris Didcote has been selected to contest the Cabot ward for the Conservative Party at the Bristol City Council election on 2 May 2013. He moved to the city in 2005 to read Computer Science at the University of Bristol, and since then he has remained local to the Cabot area now working near the Triangle doing web consultancy. Having lived, studied and worked in the area for the past eight years, he has seen the lack of progress that has been made at local level by each successive council. He feels progress has been too slow, in areas such as curb-side recycling, with the introduction of plastic collections made only within the last year: significantly behind many other council authorities around the UK. He wants to see increased investment in the retail heart of the city as well as improved, affordable housing for students and young professionals within the Cabot ward. In his spare time Chris has recently taken up running and competed in the Bristol half marathon in September, and will be running the Bristol 10k this May. He also enjoys to paint when he finds the time, as well as getting out and seeing all the sights that Bristol has to offer.
