MP Fitness
MP Fitness and our Walk This Way therapy courses specialise in working with children, teenagers and adults that are that are both post op SDR and pre op SDR. We work with other types of Cerebral Palsy but we are the only SDR specific training centre in the UK. Our techniques are encouraging, fun and we get great results. We work very closely with Dr Park and Deanna Walters at St Louis Children’s Hospital in the USA. After visiting the Children’s Hospital and working alongside there therapists for a week it was encouraging to see just how similar our approach and training methods are.
Our approach is to concentrate on strengthening the muscle weakness and braking down incorrect pattern of movement this is done partly by working on full range of motion and building along with biomechanics to aid in correct movement patterns.
We treat our clients as an individual the CP aspect is something we taken into consideration but its not our main or only focus. We assess and work with each person and build them a programme to suit their needs and that works around time constraints and equipment, not everyone can have a commercial gym in their house.
On completion of your course you don’t leave us empty handed you get a workout to follow at home and this ensures we can keep progressing you forwards and you don’t slip back.
Our intensive Therapy courses are 2 weeks long with training spread over 10 days. We will do 1 week therapy courses but not during holiday times, and not for your first course.
We don’t do more than 2 weeks due to the nature of what we do our courses are very intensive and stressful on the body and mind of the person we are working with , any longer than 2 weeks and we will start to move backwards.
We also give advice on diet & nutrition to make sure you’re getting enough fuel into your body to grow muscle and keep yourself going. We like to take every opportunity to help move each client forwards and we believe that if the diet is not correct we are never going to allow the body to grow, repair and this in turn allows for a better and safer training programme and one that’s less likely to plateau
Any questions please feel free to ask.
Have a look at the gym it’s not your normal therapy centre!
