Maple Valley Childminder and Pre School
Hello, my name is Kimberley, and I am a childminder in Newhaven. I have worked in a nursery environment for over 5 years now and I have gained a NVQ level 3 in childcare, learning and development, and also hold a current Paediatric first aid certificate.
Other certificates I hold are Behaviour Management, Food Safety and Hygiene, Child Protection and Observation, assessment and Planning.
*I work with an assistant who holds the necessary certificates and has been approved by Ofsted as suitable to work with children, she holds a current paediatric first aid certificate and is currently undertaking her NVQ level 3 in childcare. *
As a supervisor in my last nursery, I had many responsibilities, such as creating the children’s planning, writing policies, and being a key worker to 8 children and lots more! I now am ready to further my career as a self-employed childminder.
I live in a detached house, and operate on the ground floor only, with the use of 3 large playrooms, a messy room, role-play room and a quiet room, plus a downstairs toilet and washroom. I have an enclosed large garden where the children can play if they wish and I also like to promote being healthy, keeping this very fun orientated, so sporty games will also be carried out here.
I live with my partner of 5 years and my sister, we are all CRB checked and I have public liability Insurance, I have all of the necessary policies in place which are always available for the parents to see.
Your child
Each child will have their own individual folders where I will keep their work, observations, and photographic evidence. Each child will also have a Scrapbook for their special work and evidence of their ‘Learning Journey’ with me.
Every day I will give strong feedback on how and what your child has been doing while in my care, I will keep you up to date with your child’s development verbally and by regular progress reports.
I will supply your child with healthy snacks and meals, a menu will be given at the beginning of each week so you are aware of what your child is eating and if you need to make any changes.
I feel very strongly about promoting good health and this will be involved every day, through what we eat, exercising, and on our outings.
Outings
Outings will take place regularly and I will take a first aid kit, mobile telephone and carry out a risk assessment for each outing. This will include trips to the shops, park, childminding groups, library, Paradise Park, the beach etc and will also involve public transport, I think this is also very important for children to experience.
