Tillers Turf Company Ltd is a leading grower and national supplier of cultivated turf for landscape and sport. As turf growing specialists we supply a wide range of turf for different uses and site conditions.
Growing turf for use in landscaping is the core of our business. We supply nationally to landscapers and house builders both large and small. Tillers Turf is used by many well known companies and organisations, including The National Trust, English Heritage, Rolls Royce, British Airways, Nissan, Sainsbury, Slough Estates, Heathrow T5, Arlington Properties, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sun Alliance, and the Foreign Office.
We have established an international reputation as specialist growers of turf for golf courses. Turf for greens, tees, fairways and bunkers is supplied throughout the UK, France, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg and Ireland.
We grow turf to order for customers' special requirements. For example, we are growing Crested Hairgrass turf (Koeleria) for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. This is a slow growing species of grass which will have a significant effect on reducing mowing costs on the many War Graves sites.
Our retail division, Turfshop.co.uk, allows on-line ordering of turf and direct deliveries to homeowners throughout the country.
The evaluation of new grass species and mixtures is an important brief for our R&D department, and this has led to the commercial production of RTF turf, Crested Hairgrass turf, Rootzone turf, and Chamomile Turf. The demands of both changing climate and the need to reduce the carbon footprint of landscapes generally, dictate that we explore grasses that can tolerate weather extremes and can thrive under low maintenance regimes.
Our Managing Director, Tim Fell, is Chairman of the Turf Growers Association. He is an enthusiastic ambassador for turf, and firmly believes that turf has a crucial part to play in the sustainability of landscapes both today and in the future.
Tillers Turf Company is a founder member of the Turf Growers Association (TGA) which sets strict quality standards for turf suppliers in the UK. We are corporate members of the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI), and members of Turf Producers International (TPI).
