This Wetherspoon pub was once Thomas Goward's grocery shop. Founded in 1810, Goward's traded on this site until 1910, weighing out provisions and cutting sugar by hand from a conical-shaped sugar loaf. In a warehouse behind the shop, Goward's staff blended tea, ground coffee, chopped sugar, ground spices and washed and polished dried fruit for sale in the shop. In 1871, Goward lived over the shop in a large household, which included his wife and three daughters, three of his shop men and two domestic servants. He later moved out to a villa in Victoria Avenue. The Sugarloaf today consists of a family based pub, serving food and drinks throughout the day from 8am everyday until 11pm sundays and mondays, until 12am tuesdays until thursdays and 1am fridays and saturdays. Food is served from 8am - 10pm throughout the week and alcoholic drinks are served from 9am throughout the week. We show live subtitled news (on silent) throughout the day.

Market Harborough Hockey Club! Hello and welcome, we are a friendly and successful hockey club that plays in the mens East Midlands Division 2 and Leicestershire and Rutland Hockey Association Mixed Leagues. We currently run five teams out of Welland Park Community College. During the season we run a training session every Wednesday at Welland Park College. Junior training (u15) is from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and adult training is 6.30pm to 8.00pm. We are always keen for new players to come along and join in, we also have a very healthy social scene throughout the year, so if I don’t get to see you on the pitch I’ll see you in the pub.
