Deeping Shotokan Karate Club - Sensei Martin Gadd 3rd Dan, Instructors: Andy Clarke 2nd Dan, Karen Gadd(Wild) 1st Dan, Scott Sawyers 1st Dan, David Wilson 1st Dan, Andy Roe 1st Dan. Sensei Gadd has been graded under Sensei Iain Abernethy 6th Dan and Sensei R.G. Reid 5th Dan and has over 25 years experience in karate instruction. He holds black belt licenses with both the British Combat Association (BCA) and the Amateur Martial Association (A.M.A.). Instructors are encouraged to learn from all different martial arts styles to further develop their abilities and have attended training and courses along with welcoming visiting instructors from Judo, Escrima/Kali (stick fighting), Self Protection, Ju Jitsu, MMA, Taijutsu and Kenpo Karate to name a few. In Karate we have trained with Iain Abernethy 6th Dan, Geoff Thompson 8th Dan, Peter Consterdine 9th Dan, Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa 10th Dan, Hanshi Shiro Asano 9th Dan, Kris Wilder 5th Dan Goju Ryu. In other disciplines we have trained with Senior Professor Andy Fitzgerald 6th Dan Kenpo Karate, Sensei Stuart Lawson 3rd Dan Issogai Taijutsu and British Olympic Judo Coach Mike Liptrot, amongst others. Deeping Karate Club teaches karate self protection as per the original karate kata of Gichin Funakoshi, founder of Shotokan Karate. The club has over 70 students training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, comprising adults and juniors. We currently have 13 black belts training at the club of which 3 are cadet (junior) dan grades. The remainder of the club students are at various grade levels, all progressing towards their black belt. We hold regular gradings tests. All our instructors are over 18, CRB checked and fully insured. We have a child protection policy and full risk assessment under our membership of the A.M.A. (Amateur Martial Association).
