School of Playback Theatre (UK)

School of Playback Theatre (UK)

Playback theatre is an original form of improvisational theatre in which audience members tell stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. Founded in 1975, playback theatre is practiced in hundreds of locations and contexts around the world. The School of Playback Theatre (UK), in association with the Centre for Playback Theatre (USA), offers a comprehensive training for all levels of experience. These range from Core Training for newcomers, to a variety of Selected Topics, and then to the five-day Advanced Skills & ten-day Playback Theatre Practice advanced level courses which precede the three-week Leadership Course with Jonathan Fox (the founder and artistic director of the original Playback Theatre company). Training in Playback Theatre can also be custom-designed for specific communities and contexts. These can be sessions introducing playback, or a series of workshops towards launching a playback theatre company, followed by supervision and mentoring. Coordinator of the School of Playback Theatre (United Kingdom): Veronica Needa

Chefs Adopt a School

Chefs Adopt a School

Academy of Culinary Arts, 53 CAvendish Road, London ,
In 1990, the Academy of Culinary Arts founded the Chefs Adopt a School Trust in response to the severe lack of food knowledge prevalent in young people. Today there is a staff team of chefs who visit schools every day (mainly primary schools but we also work with secondary and SEN schools as well as Pupil Referral Units) and we also rely on members of the Academy of Culinary Arts who form an invaluable volunteer army and adopt a school (or two!) tehmselves. Every year, CAAS reaches 21,000 young people.
