Oatcake Cottage

Oatcake Cottage

Castleton, High Peak ,
A romantic home from home with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Orriginally a bakery, Oatcake Cottage was built in 1690 of limestone and nestles below Peveril Castle in a quiet, rural backwater in the popular village of Castleton. It has many orriginal features including two 7 feet long stone troughs which feature on the small forecourt, a gritstone fireplace and exposed beams and trusses. A quaint dining room with french doors leads out into the beautiful private, enclosed terraced garden with spectacular views where you can sit in the evenings with a glass of wine. Reviews from our guests... “The most idyllic cottage and location” Just absolutely wonderful. The cottage had every appliance needed and even more. So very clean and tidy and even had hidden little extras. The owner had such insight to add little extras like flowers, pictures, ornaments etc, etc, list is endless making the cottage so homely - outrated some B&B's, as the feel in the cottage was so tranquil, an absolute delight - catering for every eventuality! Garden just as exquisite; and so very well kept. “Great cottage for a romantic break!” A beautiful olde worlde cottage with honey coloured oak floors in lounge and dining room.Superb views and location cant be bettered .Quiet but a minutes walk from excellent pubs and tea shops and evening strolls round this gorgeous village.Just walk out the door ..no need to use car ..for excellent rambling on Mam Tor Ridge . WE explored caves and ate out every night with really good food . Recommend the George , Castle and Rose Cottage tea shops. David Mellor cutlery factory in nearby Hathersage also a treat. “Perfect!” A perfect cottage in a perfect location! We had a great time exploring Castleton and had fantastic accommodation to complete our wonderful break. Oatcake is a very cosy and homely cottage with everything we needed. The top terrace in the garden has great views and sat and watched the bats flying around us in the evening! Wish we could've stayed longer - looking forward to returning to Oatcake soon!
