Glassford Day Nursery is situated in the village of Glassford, near Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The aim of Glassford Day Nursery is to provide, friendly, local childcare in our rural setting. Glassford Day Nursery opened its doors on the 4th of December 2006. We are very proud of our new building and the reputation we now have for providing the high quality child care that parents are looking for. Our nursery is small and family owned. Our staff are experienced and qualified. Janet started the GDN venture after many years as a registered childminder, parent to three grown up children and her lifelong interest in children and child development. The nursery is situated at 2–4 Station Road, in the village of Glassford, near Strathaven, Chapelton, Quarter, Stonehouse and Larkhall. We are 6 miles from Hamilton and close to all major road links to East Kilbride, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Why not call in to see us? In Glassford we constantly aim to provide the children with a rich stimulating curriculum within a caring, supportive environment. We are very grateful to some of our parents who give up their time and become parent helpers. We take pride in the commitment of all the staff in the school. All teaching staff have a sound knowledge and understanding of each child's needs and are ably supported by our Support Staff. We have a very supportive School Board and PTA whose involvement benefits the school greatly.

I had been an amateur photographer for many years, starting as a child with a keen interest in how cameras worked. After a career working as a nurse in NHS I felt it was time for a change in career and chose Photography. I studied full-time at Glasgow Building and Print for 3 years. This was a difficult time for photographers as the world of photography was entering the 'Digital Age'. Luckily it has worked well for me, as having learned on film and been there from the beginning of digital, I have the advantage of having a deeper understanding of how light and photography works as well as having learned digital processing as it grew. I have worked in different areas now, from portraiture and weddings to landscape. Landscape photography has always been my real passion. I am a keen hillwalker and wild camper and have a deep love of the outdoors. I have always wanted to be able to come home and show people what beauty is around them in this wonderful country. To inspire them to go and see for themselves. Hopefully I can now do this through my photographs.

The New Ark activity & support centre - where lions become lambs. The main purpose of the centre is to create an ongoing environment for children both local and looked after (in the care system). We can provide a safe, nurturing and pro-developmental environment in order to better change the outcome for many children. This method of mixing children from various backgrounds and pasts along with horses has been proven over the past fifteen years with countless success stories which can be found in our Story section. Our system involves an achievement based progression that is made clear to all children attending. They begin with small achievable goals and are encouraged to constantly learn and develop their skills until they are at an experienced level. The emphesis must not be put on the horses or animals though. All credit is awarded to Lynn, and her team of dedicated and inspirational young people which makes the centre a place where it's a home from home, and somewhere safe where the young people can be who they want to be.
