Employablity skills workshop
Our aim is to equip young people with the employability skills they will need to successfully process to a job, further education or self-employment and more significantly to help them recognise their potential.
The employability workshop is divided into 13 weeks with an employability weekend away on week 13.
Week 13 is the employability skills weekend away. The weekend is designed to give young people first-hand experience to the world of the labour market.
Two seminars will be held on topic such as
Employer recruitment styles.
What an employer looks for in an employee.
Higher education is it for me?
These seminars will give young people the opportunity to talk to local business men, women and entrepreneur.
Young people will also have the opportunity to gain certificate in basic health and safety and First Aid at works.
The workshop will enable young people to:
• Understand their strengths and development needs.
• Show personal responsibility in their own learning, initiative, creativity and enterprise
• Have a commitment to learning and self-improvement.
• Actively embrace change and responding positively to new priorities.
• Learn how to cope with challenges and look for opportunities to grow.
At the end of the workshop young people will be able to:
• Work co-operatively as part of a team.
• Communicate effectively, being persuasive and assertive.
• Clarify their role in the work place.
• Value other peoples skills.
• Able to manage their time productively.
• Understand the Labour market.
• Use language, numbers and information technology effectively.
• Confidently research the Labour marker/higher education to find the best job/further education for them.
