Hodson Architects Ltd
As an ARB (Architects Registration Board) and RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) registered practice we offer a full range of professional services from initial client consultations and feasibility studies to producing the building design, administering contracts and overseeing works on site. Facilities include CAD systems (AutoCAD), SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop to produce 3D digital and scanned images. The practice also develops projects by producing both working and presentation models. Computer based sunlight modelling is produced for many projects. We have a technical, periodical and monograph libraries.
We are a small to medium sized practice operating in an open-plan office where each member of staff becomes aware of the current status of most projects. A more formal organisation of the practice is maintained through weekly staff meetings, where jobs are reviewed, procedures co-ordinated and office policies updated where necessary.
At least one of the directors is responsible for each of the projects, overseeing and checking the quality and consistency of the work. Both the ARB and RIBA Codes of Conduct and Architects Job Book (Eighth Edition) and the accompanying ‘Green Guide to Sustainability’ (both RIBA publications) are used as standards guides to delivering quality design and buildings.
All architectural members of staff regularly attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events and courses. We also hold monthly in-house training seminars.
We have a formal partnering arrangement with the Building Control department at North East Lincolnshire Council. This allows us to deal with them effectively and efficiently via a local point of contact for schemes in all parts of the UK.
We are members of The Association for Environmentally Conscious Building and Constructionline.
Both of the directors have maintained links with schools of architecture since their qualification in 1988. Studio teaching has been enjoyed at Hull, Leeds, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Lincoln and Nottingham schools of architecture whilst lectures have been delivered at Sheffield, Leeds, Lincoln, Nottingham, Belfast, York and Mainz in Germany.
