New Cleator Moor Health Centre
The new £6.5m Cleator Moor Health Centre is part of the initial tranche of eLIFT Cumbria projects that achieved financial close on 30th April 2012.
The development, together with the Cockermouth Hospital and Health Centre, is funded by and being delivered through the NHS Express LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) initiative. Along with Cockermouth, the project is the first to utilise the Express LIFT Lease Plus Agreement.
Construction work on the site located on Birks Road started in late May 2012 and is due for completion in spring 2013.
The Cleator Moor Health Centre will bring together the services provided in four existing buildings and provide GP services (22,000 population) to registered and non registered patients 8 am - 8 pm, 7 days per week, a walk-in centre, an integrated service model with the adjacent (Sure Start) Children's Centre to provide better health outcomes for children and young people, NHS Dental, NHS emergency dental and pharmacy, community and outpatient clinics, minor injuries and educational facilities for health professionals including GPs and medical students.
