Chester Le Street Sea Cadets
Chester-le-Street Sea Cadets are part of the of the oldest youth organisation in the United Kingdom. Formed in 1943 and named after a local man, Donald Owen Clarke GC, the youngest person to be awarded the George Cross, our aims are to help children develop self-discipline, pride and life skills through various fun and interesting activities, as well as the traditions of the Royal Navy.
Unlike the Army Cadets and Air Training Corp, we are a registered charity, with no direct funding from the MoD, and unlike the other two cadet organinsations we are not a pre-service organisation.
We teach many skills, both within the unit, and nationally at vairous locations, both Sea Cadet and Royal Naval Establishments throughout the country, many of the skills we teach are recognised both nationally and internationally, giving our cadets the best advantages that life can offer, these are:

As we are based on the Royal Navy, cadets advance from New Entry to Petty Officer Cadet via a structured syllabus, in order to do this, cadets are taught a range of specialisations which they can do as many as they wish:
