Camelford Shotokan Karate Club
Sir James Smiths school gymnasuim,
Camelford
,
Camelford Shotokan Karate club is a Japanese martial that originates from the island of Okinawa, which is situated off the south coast of Japan.
The club is run by 2 instructors, Sensei Roger Tarrant (5th Dan) who is the Head of our Association and he is also the Head Instructor of the adult class.
Then Sensei Jack Procter, who is the Assistant Head instructor of the Camelford club and Head Instructor of the Youth and children class.
Karate means empty hand, so all our techniques focus on using blocks, punches and kicks as a defence (tho we do sneak some weapons in just for fun). It is a controlled, dynamic and fast martial art that also lots fun. And it is suitable for all Men, women, girls and boys!
At our club, we are a Traditional art form but we also think of the modern too. Our training focus' on Kata (a set form of moves), partner work, self defence and competitions of Kata and fighting.
Our sessions aim to keep the spirit of Karate alive while helping to build our pupils self confidence, Karate ability, self defence ability and fitness. Hopefully every session is fun too!
The Wadebridge Shotokan Karate club, which is run by Sensei Steve Moine (3rd Dan), is a linked to us too and often Instructor and pupils teach and train at both.
The Camelford session hours are as below:
