Active English Learning
The Active English Courses are designed as an educational programme for teenagers, childrens and adults who want to improve their English in a social context where English is the alive means of communication.
The courses aim to integrate the students with their host families, discover the social cultural historical background of the local people, explore the local customs and attitudes as part of the identity of local communities, compare local conditions with those in the visitor’s countries.
The organic approach proposed in our courses should also be able to produce the psychological conditions that are fundamental for the harmonious development of a learner: *joy of learning, *self-confidence and * social awareness towards the natural and human environment.
Educational purposes:
1) To improve knowledge, confidence and practice of English skills;
2) To stimulate personal development and sense of responsibility through experience of a new cultural social environment;
3) To increase understanding and friendship among people of different cultural background and countries.
Daily plan:
All courses Monday to Friday, 08:45 to 15:45 Saturdays, all day excursion to a significant site in Devon or Cornwall [J1 and J3] or in Northern Ireland [J2] - Wednesdays are “Discovery days” to explore local communities Features:
- 3 classes per course;
- max 12 students per class;
- weekly individual tutorials;
- English lessons based on both spoken and written English;
- Arts, crafts and outdoor activities led by English instructors and teachers;
- When possible, visiting and English people come together to do some activities or games - Students who wants to deepen the study of English can choose “Academic English” as workshop instead of a parallel activity.
