Working from my studio in rural Dorset, I sculpt and craft my one off animals and curiosities entirely by hand. Using needle felting techniques alongside a variety of other craft skills I expertly manipulate luxury natural fibres into my stylised and tactile pieces. My unique and beautiful heirlooms of the future are exquisitely crafted with meticulous attention to detail and an eye for the individual characteristics of each piece. Playing with the traditions of taxidermy and the impression of what is real; I carefully observe and interpret the animal world, creating a wonderful menagerie of pieces that become instant talking points and items to treasure. Needle felting uses barbed needles to poke and sculpt wool and other natural fibres into a solid three dimensional form. The technique has very few limitations and I find that this freedom feeds my imagination greatly. My work is constantly evolving and I am always happy to discuss commissions and special requests. I live in a little cottage in Dorset and when I'm not playing with wool I am busy running my contemporary craft gallery Hawthorn and enjoying the occasional sneaky pint. At North Dorset Karate you will learn the traditional style of Wado-Ryu Karate in a club with a very friendly atmosphere. We have several highly skilled and fully insured Black Belt Instructors who are all dedicated to teaching at a very high standard. The Town Council is made up of 16 Councillors who are voluntary, although they can choose to receive the allowance that is now available to them to cover Council-related costs such as stationery, telephone bills, travel, etc. Councillors represent different wards of the Town. The town is divided into 5 wards; Blandford Damory Down, Blandford Old Town, Blandford Langton St Leonards, Blandford Hilltop and Blandford Station. Three Councillors will be elected to represent each ward with the exception of Blandford Old Town which will be represented by four Councillors. The Mayor and Chairman roles will be filled by one Councillor or, in exceptional circumstances and on the ruling of Council, the role may be split and filled by two Councillors. The same applies to the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Chairman of Council. The Chairman is responsible for ensuring that effective and lawful decisions are taken at meetings of the council and that Councillors are fully informed in order to make those decisions. The Chairman is often the public face of the Council and attends many functions arranged by local organisations throughout their year of office. It is a demanding role, but one that is very worthwhile as there is so much contact with the public. In the absence of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor will preside at meetings and attend functions. However they do not wear the robes or chains of office as they are only deputising for the Mayor. The Town Council’s Officers are made up of a team of 15 staff.
