Shantavny Farmhouse Holiday Let Omagh
Set among the scenic foothills of Co. Tyrone, Shantavny Farmhouse is steeped in Irish history. In the uplands of the market town of Ballygawley well known for its 'hiring fairs' of yore, this old farmhouse has been restored to its former glory.
The mountain of Shantavny rises, according to the ordnance survey, 1035 feet above the level of the sea. The valleys are watered by streams which, in their descent from the mountains, form numerous picturesque cascades; and in one of them are found fossils and shells, washed down from the beds of limestone.
The scenery is strikingly diversified; the glen called "Todd's Leap" abounds with romantic features, and at the southern extremity of the parish is a very handsome bridge of one arch over the Blackwater. The character of the beautiful old 18th Century framhouse remains intact and has been refurbished to accommodate groups from 10 to 24 people, wheather trekking the hills, attending a writer's retreat or bounding accross Todd's Leap in an all terrain vehicle, what better to come home to a real fire, in an old black range and tell your own storys 'till the wee small hours.
