The club was formed during the summer of 1991, following the entering of a team in the Winchester Easter Sevens Tournament, and played its first full XV a side match in the September of that year. Following a very encouraging first season and the recruitment of additional players the club entered the recently created Hampshire Division 3, in 1992. After completing its first season in Hampshire 3 the club formed a 2nd XV and has continued to field 2 adult teams throughout the last 13 years. Following promotion and then relegation from Division 2, on a couple of occasions, the 1st XV finally reached Hampshire 1 in 2004. Also in this season the club managed to reach the semi-finals of the Hampshire Plate, our best performance to date. The 2nd XV has gone from strength to strength, with greater numbers of players coming to the club, and entered the Hampshire Merit Table 3 three years ago.

The day offers a wide variety of events ranging from livestock classes, in which cattle, sheep, pigs and goats from across the region compete for a coveted first prize, to an extensive display of beautifully restored and maintained vintage machinery. Traditional countryside pastimes are showcased during the falconry displays and the parade of hounds, beagles and bloodhounds while horses of all shapes and sizes are shown in the heavy horse, in-hand, side saddle, carriage driving and jumping classes. From donkey, dog and duck shows to racing sheep and ferrets there is never a dull moment at the Alresford Show! However, when lunch beckons, visitors can find delicious locally produced food and drink in amongst the wide variety of catering stands and at the local bar and beer tent. There are great shopping opportunities with over 150 trade stands to visit as well as activities to try such as go karting and tree climbing. Children can let off steam in the’ Farm Yard Fun’ playground and be entertained by Punch and Judy shows throughout the day.

Emma has been dancing since the age of 2, taking part in classes and bi-annual shows in an array of dance styles, including Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz. Born and raised in Hampshire, Emma is keen to move back to her roots having studied for 3 years at the Royal Academy of Dance, London, by setting up a dance academy based in Alresford, Hampshire. Whilst at college, Emma applied for a place on the highly competitive BA (Hons) Ballet Education degree programme at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance and was offered a place starting that same year. Having completed and graduated from this programme, Emma now has a BA (Hons) Ballet Education and Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher Status, ensuring that she can teach the RAD syllabus and enter students for RAD examinations. Emma is now thrilled to be venturing into the dance industry to pass on her knowledge and skills to her students and enthrall young dancers in the sheer joy of dancing. She has a strong passion for making dance accessible to all abilities and, to this end, Emma and her school will always strive to cater for all students' individual needs.

Watercress Lodges are currently under construction alongside the Mid Hants Steam Railway line at Ropley Station, near New Alresford, in an idyllic farmland setting. Campsite facilities also available. Bookings will be taken from 1 March for anticipated opening in July 2013. A perfect location for a family stay such as in Thomas the Tank Engine Week as well as for enthusiasts to feel the steam! It's also as a great base from which to visit Hampshire's many attractions.
