Poem by Rowena Roberts about The Yard:
The Legend of The Yard
On the Edge of time and space
Danced fair young maidens, full of grace,
Twirling as they cast a spell
That travelled o’er hill and dell,
Awakening ancient energies
And long-forgotten synergies:
Celebrations that touch the soul,
Making mind and body whole.
Whereon this spell’s activity
Made merry way to Alderley,
Kindling pleasures that know no fashion:
Talents honed and shared with passion,
Seeds of knowledge laying secrets bare,
Food prepared with timeworn care,
Art and culture, music and song,
Collaborations sacred and strong.
This legend’s not sung by an ancient bard,
But lives today in a space called The Yard:
Where local produce from fields and farms
Mingles with artwork and spiritual charms,
Where master craftsfolk create and display,
Where mentors guide and performers play,
Where communities come together each day
And share ancient joys, the contemporary way.
