St John Ambulance - Bangor Division

St John Ambulance - Bangor Division

Penrhosgarnedd Centre, Bangor ,
Bangor Division is part of St John Cymru Wales which in turn is part of the global Order of St John, an organisation with a tradition of caring for the sick and injured dating back over 900 years. Our members provide assistance at a number of events in North Wales each year, giving over 2,000 hours of their time in 2011. But we don’t just help people at events; we also train members of the public in life-saving procedures because we don’t think anyone should suffer from the lack of first aid. St John Ambulance also provides assistance to the National Health Service by providing back-up crews during peak times and at times of emergency. St John Cymru Wales is also one of Wales' largest youth organisations which is reflected in Bangor Division with over half our members being under the age of 25. It costs us nearly £10,000 per year to keep the Division going, most of which is raised through donations from event organisers and members of the public. We currently operate a fully equipped ambulance purchased in 2009 but we are not resting on our laurels and are already working towards raising the £60,000 cost of a new ambulance. In order to raise these funds, we organise a number of fundraising events throughout the year, such as pub quizzes, collections and raffles. There will soon be five St John groups in the Bangor area, so there's bound to be a group that's right for you. If you are over 16, there is the main adult division which meets on Tuesday evenings in the Penrhosgarnedd Centre between 7.30 and 9.30pm most weeks. Are you a student at Bangor University? Then why not come along to the St John Ambulance Society which meets in LR4 every Monday evening between 7 and 9pm during university term time. These two groups work closely together to deliver the main training courses you will need for public duty and to arrange guest speakers but less formal training is run separately. If you are aged 10-17, then why not try our cadet group which meets every Thursday between 6 and 7.30, again at the Penrhosgarnedd Centre. If you are between 5 and 10 years old, then Badgers is for you. There are two groups you could join depending on where you live. The first group meets at the Penrhosgarnedd Centre on a Thursday evening between 6 and 7.30 with the second group meeting at the Talysarn Community Centre on Mondays between 5 and 6.30pm. Both Badger Setts and the Cadet group only meet during school term time. If you would like to join us, organise an event to help us meet our running costs or towards an item of equipment, or are organising an event and you're not sure what level of first aid cover you require, please get in touch!

The history of Pakistan-which, for the period preceding the founding of the nation in 1947.1 is shared intermittently for Afghanistan, India and Iran can be dated to the beginning of human life in southern Pakistan Asia.2 extends west to the Indian subcontinent and east to the border with the Iranian plateau. The current region of Pakistan served as fertile ground for some of the most important civilizations of South Asia and as a gateway to the subcontinent to the Middle East and Asia Central.3 Pakistan is home to some of the most important archaeological sites, including the reservoir oldest Paleolithic hominids in South Asia, located in the river valley Soan.4 Located on the first coastal migration route of anatomically modern Homo sapiens out of Africa, the region was inhabited from early human modernos.5 The 9000 years of history of life in villages in southern Asia, dating back to the Neolithic (7000-4300 a.) was found at the site of Mehrgarh in Pakistan, 6 and the 5000 years of urban history in South Asia in various Indus Valley sites, which includes Mohenyó-Daro and Jarapa.7 The subsequent millennia saw the current region of Pakistan absorbing many influences, which representations can be found at the site of Taxila, representing the Buddhist period, the Greco-Buddhist site of Takht-i-Bahi, Sindhi-Islamic monuments of Thatta, belonging to the fourteenth century, and Mughal monuments built in the seventeenth century Lahore Fort. From the s. Century, the region was gradually appropriated by the British Company of the West Indies, resulting in 90 years of continued British rule, and ending with the creation of Pakistan in 1947, through the efforts, among others, his future national poet Allama Iqbal and its founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Since then, the country has experienced democratic and military governments, giving results in periods of significant military and economic growth and also other instability, the latter the most significant was that resulted in the secession, in 1971, East Pakistan , which became Bangladesh. www.pakifun.info
