Systema Oban Scotland

Systema Oban Scotland

Systema is sometimes called ’know yourself’. What does it really mean to understand yourself? It is not just to know what your strengths and weaknesses are, that is good but fairly superficial. Training is one of the sure ways to see the full extent of our limitations, to see how proud and weak we really are. Systema allows us to gain the true strength of spirit that comes from humility and clarity in seeing the purpose of our life. Breathing, Movement, Relaxation, Structure… These are just some of the topics we investigate with regards to improving your health and happiness. It is often the fundamental elements that let us down, like poor breathing or excess tension. You will learn how to manage the whole spectrum of stress, using the natural resources that we sometimes take for granted. You will employ processes such as the heart beat, blood pressure and muscle tension to learn about your body and it’s various functions. All major systems of the body are considered, including the nervous, muscular, skeletal and respitory. The categories of strikes, kicking, joint breaks, throwing, weapons and ground fighting are all developed in Systema. Advanced areas such as varying terrains and multiple opponents are also explored in detail. We train to survive and escape, so we are not interested in competing or winning. There are no belts or rules, just natural methods that can be practiced for a lifetime.

Support Oban Airport

Oban airport, North Connel, Oban ,
"Oban Airport is situated on the idyllic West Coast of Scotland and offers one of the best views that any airport could have". Oban Airport is actually sited at North Connel, about 5 miles north of Oban, "The gateway to the Isles" and is a great jumping off point for exploring the beautiful islands and coastline of the west of Scotland. Next door is the dramatic Falls of Lora, a tidal race caused by the emptying and filling of Loch Etive through the narrow gap between North and South Connel. Operated by Argyll and Bute council, it has a CAA licence as a commercial airport following recent upgrading. Currently Hebridean Air Services is the only airline based at Oban and operate scheduled flights on two routes. The first route departs Oban to the Isles of Colonsay and Islay return and the second leaves Oban bound for the Isles of Coll and Tiree return.
