Knowsley Foodbank

Knowsley Foodbank

PO BOX 135, Liverpool ,
How a foodbank works: Food is donated Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to a foodbank. Large collections often take place as part of Harvest Festival celebrations. Food is also collected at ‘Supermarket Collections’: These are events held at supermarkets where volunteers give shoppers a ‘foodbank shopping list’ and ask them to buy an extra item or two for local people in crisis. Food is sorted and stored Volunteers sort food to check that it’s in date and pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need. Frontline care professionals identify people in need Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, CAB and police identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher. Clients receive food Foodbank clients bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be redeemed for three days emergency food. Volunteers meet clients over a cup of tea or free hot meal and are able to signpost people to agencies able to solve the longer-term problem. Some foodbanks also run a rural delivery service, which takes emergency foodboxes to clients living in rural areas who cannot afford to get to a foodbank. To visit a foodbank near you contact foodbanknetwork@trusselltrust.org or call 01722 580171
Knowsley Lift Services

Knowsley Lift Services

1st Floor Fairfield House Binns Road , Liverpool ,
Established in 1997, Knowsley Lift Services Ltd specialised in the installation of new lifts and the refurbishment of existing lift installations. A partnership was formed with the intention to expand to the public sector and create a company that employed and trained local people into the lift industry. In 2000, Joe Fitzgerald joined the company, which then became Limited, with each Director having an equal share in the company. All Directors are fully qualified lift engineers, and worked for The Express Lift Company Ltd, prior to the Otis take-over. Three of the directors reached the level of regional technicians, and one became Liverpool Branch Manager, moving to Senior Regional Sales Manager prior to Knowsley Lifts Ltd. With the need for qualified men now essential due to legislation, Knowsley Lifts Services Ltd, embarked on an extensive training programme for all its employees as they were recruited into the company. This ensured all our employees were able not only to maintain and service lifts, but were able to install new lifts, refurbish existing lifts and fault find to a high level of competence. Due to the strict European Standards governing the lift industry it was also important to gain the proper accreditation for our industry which we successfully completed in 2003. This is a UKAS accreditation and is fully recognised within the industry, we also achieved Schedule 12 accreditation in construction and design. Knowsley Lift Services Ltd is also a full member of The Lift & Escalator Association. Knowsley Lift Services has developed a policy of expansion within the North West area, with its operational base in Liverpool. We have secured many contracts with local authorities and organisations, creating partnering agreements with them to provide ‘best value’ with an open book policy on parts, labour and documentation. We are constantly scrutinising our supply chains in order to provide the best quality equipment for our customers, which is always open protocol and therefore does not require any specialist manufacturer’s diagnostic test tool equipment or secured password systems which leave the end user/ customer tied in with the installing company for future service works. We provide a full internet based customer portal system, where our clients can access and view all their sites, assets, documentation, Health and Safety, invoicing and scheduling. All our engineers are trained to the highest standard and have all gained industry recognised qualifications within The Lift Industry Training Scheme (LITS). We have an active apprenticeship policy, with the aim of minimum HNC level achievement, part of their training program. Our service engineers have access to Health and Safety Policy Statements via their hand-held personal PDA systems. They also have access to the Extranet for on site risk assessment analysis. They have been provided with training for risk assessment and method statement compilation. Our engineers are provided with annual tool box talk sessions and are part of the Fusion 21 framework agreement for ongoing training in reference to all Health and Safety and Vocational Training. We employ Peninsula Business Services to advise with Health and Safety and Employment Law. We also work alongside The Federation of Small Business for legal and contractual matters. We are full members of The Lift and Escalator Industry Association and we refer to them for regular lift regulation updates. We are also full members of CHAS, Constructionline and Safecontractor. Our Quality Management is of the highest standard, and we take great pride in the relationships we have with our clients and customers. We are a rapidly expanding company, and our workforce is growing with this expansion. Merseyside

Merseyside

101 Park Road East, Liverpool ,
Merseyside (pron.: /ˈmɜrzisaɪd/) is a metropolitan county in North West England, with a population of 1,381,200.[1] It encompasses the metropolitan area centred on both banks of the lower reaches of the Mersey Estuary, and comprises five metropolitan boroughs: Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, Wirral, and the city of Liverpool. Merseyside, which was created on 1 April 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972, takes its name from the River Mersey. Merseyside spans 249 square miles (645 km2) of land which border Lancashire (to the north-east), Greater Manchester (to the east), and Cheshire (to the south and south-west); the Irish Sea is to the west. North Wales is across the Dee Estuary. There is a mix of high density urban areas, suburbs, semi-rural and rural locations in Merseyside, but overwhelmingly the land use is urban. It has a focused central business district, formed by Liverpool City Centre, but Merseyside is also a polycentric county with five metropolitan districts, each of which has at least one major town centre and outlying suburbs. The Liverpool Urban Area is the seventh most populous conurbation in the UK, and dominates the geographic centre of the county, while the smaller Birkenhead Urban Area dominates the Wirral Peninsula in the south.

Knutsford

Knutsford

Knutsford is a town and civil parish in the unitary authority area of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, in North West England. Knutsford's main town centre streets, Princess Street (also known locally as Top Street) and King Street lower down, and also known as Bottom Street, form the "hub" of the town. At one end of the narrow King Street is an entrance to Tatton Park. The Tatton estate was home to the Egerton family, and has given its name to Tatton parliamentary constituency, which also includes the neighbouring communities of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. Former Parliamentary representatives include the BBC war correspondent Martin Bell, who stood as an Independent in 1997 to defeat the disgraced former Conservative Party MP, Neil Hamilton. This is not the official Knutsford Facebook page, but it still provides true and reliable news from around the town.
