It was opened on 6 January 2003 following the merger of Springfield Comprehensive and Hedworthfield Comprehensive, and is based at the old Springfield site. Its full title is Jarrow School, Excellence In Engineering, the result of a competition to choose an inspirational name for the new school. In 2007 the school became a specialist Engineering College. The former Jarrow Grammar School opened in 1911. In June 2010, this building was demolished and the old Jarrow School building has been replaced by a new school on the same site, funded by Building Schools for the Future.

Welcome to The Official Perth Green Model Railway Club Facebook Page, We are a small club based at Perth Green Community Centre in Jarrow. We are the only Model Railway Club in South Tyneside and are based at the Council's Perth Green Community Association in Inverness Road, Jarrow. We hold a very popular and well attended Exhibition over a full weekend each March. You will find the details of our exhibition on our website. We meet principally on a Wednesday night from 7pm ending at 10pm, while we meet on other nights, this is the best night to come and find us.

During the 2012 Olympic Games, Holy Trinity Church Jesmond was transformed into a vibrant and welcoming community café: serving great coffee, tea and fairtrade snacks ; a toddler play area and a programme for people of all ages. Well we’re back for 2013 with a twist! We’ve been opening the café space and the toddler play area but adding in a new feature: Messy Church. On each occasion there's eight themed activity tables full of crafts and games for children and parents to do together. There's also an optional all together time: 15 minutes of story telling and singing. So you can simply come and use the café and soak up the atmosphere or read a paper, or bring the kids – there's loads for them to do. The choice is yours. No pressure, just a warm welcome and a great venue. Free Admission. Refreshments on sale at café.
