Oxford Attachment Parenting Oxford UK - Kangaroo Playgroup
Barracks Lane Community Gardens,
Oxford
,
This is a page for anybody who is interested in natural/ attachment parenting in and around Oxford.
Kangaroo playgroup is a weekly group set up for parents of babies of children of all ages who are interested in, or practising, natural and attachment parenting. It's held at a wonderful indoor outdoor venue - Barracks Lane Community Garden - where the children interact with each other and natural "toys" such as sticks and leaves. There is also a sandpit with toys and various plants and structures to explore. Solace can also be sought in the beautiful yurt where we can be found huddled around a log fire in colder weather.
It runs 10.30 - 12.30 Wednesdays, year round, whatever the weather.

Attachment, natural, or instinctive parenting is not a rigid set of rules to be followed, but a philosophy of child-rearing which is founded on a secure loving relationship between a parent and child. Attached Parents use their instincts to guide them in their care of their children. In the main this means following the child's cues in order to meet his/her needs. Attachment Parenting (AP) sometimes looks to the example of tribal societies and considers how a human baby's evolutionary needs may be out of sync with the expectations of contemporary culture.
This discussion group covers many areas of parenting. Topics include:
Natural birth
Home birth
Breastfeeding on demand
Full term breastfeeding
Babywearing
Co-sleeping
Baby-led weaning
Elimination communication/ Nappy Free
Cloth nappies
Alternatives to controlled crying/sleep training
Gentle discipline/ unconditional parenting
Other areas of discussion are vaccinations, childcare, schools, home education, clothes, food, toys, massage, signing, ethical living, mindfulness etc etc.
A final note: Please treat each other with the same respect that you show to your child!
