Formed in 1991, Huddersfield Heat Basketball are one of the up and coming clubs in the English Basketball Leagues. With a relatively short history, in over twenty years the club has developed from a small local league club into one competing at national level, and we are now extremely proud with the club having won its first national title, EBL Division 4 North in 2009-2010, and now more recently completing a fantastic league and cup double, winning EBL Division 3 North and the National Shield in 2012-2013. The club is now entering its second stage of development, where the construction of a new home is key to the further development of the club. With this permanent home in place, the club will be able to focus on progression through the leagues, to reach the ultimate objective of becoming a fully professional club. At Huddersfield Heat, we are expanding our business partnerships and our influence in the community, which we also see as key to establishing ourselves alongside the great sports clubs in the town, Huddersfield Town Football Club and Huddersfield Giants Rugby League.

Watch our Intro Video: http://youtu.be/kM6acpwPTdA We had a highly successful 10/11 season we gaining promotion, winning various sevens tournaments, winning the Varsity cup over Bradford and becoming European Champions at the SportsVest Tour in Spain. The team also beat the University Rugby League team at Rugby League! The team won 'Sports Team of the Year' at the Student's Union Awards for team of the year and had 3 players up for sportsman of the year, which was won by Michael Aitchison (Ex-President of Rugby Union). In the again successful 11/12 season we narrowly lost out of promotion coming in 2nd place. We also won the annual Varsity Cup over Bradford, which took place at the famous Odsal Stadium; home of the Bradford Bulls. We polished of the season by becoming the Huddersfield University Cross Codes Champions over the rugby league side. We train and play at Lockwood park, not far from university. This ground is home of Huddersfield Rugby Union who are in National two division. -We train on Monday nights at 7pm. We meet at the student union bar at 6.15 pm and travel down together. - We play every Wednesday and meet depending on home or away games. We are looking to have another highly successful season starting in September 2012. If you are starting the university this year please do come training and meet a whole load of new people. Bring some mates along too! Whatever your standard we will look after you and make your Wednesday Student nights the best ever! We will have a load of events monthly, throughout the year so please watch this space! If you are a student studying a course such as Journalism, Sports Journalism, Media studies, Photography, Events Planning, Graphic Design or any others and wish to get involved in a non-playing capacity then please get in contact. This will be excellent experience to add to your CV and help you get a job after Uni and obviously will add a massive amount to your social life!
