The objective of ORCC is to help consolidate and organise Cricket activities and ever expanding cricketing talent pool in the UK. Under the guidance of Mr Ganga Kumarasuriyar, we, the Old Royalist Cricketers, Old Royalists Cricket Club (ORCC) was formed on the 10th of October 2009. This will enable Royalists and other talented cricketers to get together as a team and play right throughout the cricket season in the summer each year.
Royal Cricket in UK has enjoyed a high level of success in the recent times evidenced by winning the Festival of Cricket Challenge Trophy in 2009 and also winning the Warden de Alwis Trophy and the Ameresekere Shield by beating the Thomians the same year. The ORAUK has given its fullest support to this venture but ORCC remains an independent entity which maintains a close link with ORAUK.
ORCC entered the division 1 of the Surrey Cricket League, affiliated to the England Cricket Board, for the 2010 Cricket tournament. Having finished second in the league they were promoted to the Premier Division in 2011.
In 2011, ORCC under the captaincy of Danushka Perera , won 10 of the 13 matches played, losing only two matches and the other ending in a tie. They ended the 2011 season in the second place (Runner-Up) in Premier Division of the Surrey Cricket League. This was a remarkable achievement by a club that was formed only two years ago and played for the first time in the Premier Division having competed with a number of well established cricket teams.
