Songs for the Deaf

Songs for the Deaf

Sticky Mike's Frog Bar, Brighton ,
Are you tired of the dreary, balless pop poop that litters the charts and sounds like the musical equivalent of being hit in the face with a copy of heat magazine? Maybe you're out of the loop and simply not cool enough to keep up with the lastest trends? Which bands are hip? Which bands aren't hip? Is using the word hip even hip? Or maybe like us you just have difficultly growing up and enjoy nothing more then having a good old riff soaked knees up and singing "Hash Pipe" at the top of your lungs with your arms around your mates? If the answer is yes to one or more of the above, then we suggest you try our new night upstairs at Stick Mike's Frog Bar. Songs for the Deaf is a monthly celebration of the best ear pounding anthems, grungey classics and bouncey pop punk hits from the 90's right the way through to the early 00's. Deliciously nostalgic and fantastically loud is our remit, so come and celebrate the good old days with us, as we spin a collection of grade A tunes from the following bands... Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Beastie Boys, Alice in Chains, Hole, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Silverchair, Bush, Faith No More, Tenacious D, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Placebo, Prodigy, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Kerbdog, Cypress Hill, Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone, Offspring, Greenday, Blink 182, Weezer, Green River, Presidents of the USA, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Garbage, Third Eye Blind, Audio Slave, Pennywise, Sublime, The Distillers, Bloodhound Gang, Everclear, Finch, Head Automatica, Hoobastank, Incubus, Jurassic 5, Less Than Jake, Mad Caddies, Millen Colin, My Vitriol, Cake, No Doubt, NoFX, Rancid, Rival Schools, Ugly Kid Joe, The Vines, American Hi-Fi, The Hives, Ash, Feeder, Fuel, Hell is for Heroes, Hundred Reasons, Black Rebel Motocycle Club, Jimmy Eat World, Million Dead, Muse, Reuben, Skunk Anansie and loads more!

Heartattack & Vine

Heartattack & Vine

Heartattack & Vine is a brand new fully independent BYOB arts, films and gigs venue for local promoters, musicians and artists. Decor-wise we have somewhat oxymoronic cross between the surreal glamour of an Alice in Wonderland courtyard and the lo-fi charm of an Austin dive bar or, for long term ambition purposes only, CBGB's meets the Ritz. (If we could allow smokers in we would.... but for now it's a heavy coat and 'smirking' for you we're afraid) We're fully bedecked with a wonderful weird furniture, two complete PAs, drums, amps, a 70s thrifty shop electronic organ (as well as a lovely 60s in-house pipe organ), black & white chessboard floors, a free retro arcade games cabinet, a wall of vines, old framed pictures and gallons of fairy lights. Oh and you hopefully! EVENTS COMING SOON https://www.facebook.com/HeartattackVine/events NEW BANDS: Please don't ask for gigs from us directly. Promoters (see below) will generally ask you if they want you on. We do however accept demos on the door of nights and will pass them on to promoters we may think -might- like them x PROMOTERS : A quick and easy guide to putting on a night If you can follow all four steps then we're very easy to deal with. As a sign that you are serious about booking we won't reply if you haven't followed the first three steps. 1) Firstly, ether than emailing us first, check the 'events coming soon' ink above to see if the night you want is free. We are now adding potential reserved nights to the listings to avoid double booking -but- if we do not receive the promoters fee on time they may become available. 2) Then please read the general overview of putting on a night here http://tinyurl.com/HVdetails . And the full legal contract here http://tinyurl.com/HVlegal 3) Have you read all of the above? Now is the time to contact us on bookings@thriftybeatnik.co.uk with all the details of your event and ideally any past events you've put on. If it fits with our dynamic we will confirm or reserve the event. You must get us payment within 7 days of us saying 'aye' either via post or in person as well as the signed form here http://tinyurl.com/HVcontract 4) Just a final post-booking thing really with regards to promoters 'going live' online with events: In order to avoid confusion you must let us know a short blurb about your night with a direct link your facebook events page (or web tickets link) so that we can direct people to your page the second you go live with it. Otherwise people tend to join our events list page and don't see all the details or any updates of your page. Our preferred online ticket seller is 'WeGotTickets' as they link to Heartattack & Vine in our tickets facebook page easily and without fuss. GENERAL ENQUIRIES bookings@thriftybeatnik.co.uk (preferred) https://twitter.com/HeartattackVine (We'll direct to back to here usually) 07732280185 : I never answer the phone... Think Bill Murray crossed with Dylan Moran. But not as good. Heartattack & Vine is a unique creative events space / venue in which to promote music and the arts with the help of local independent companies and publications. As one of eBay Europe's top twenty five contributors to charitable organisations we're hoping to turn our own good fortune to the local arts scene donating primarily to the Open Clasp Theatre Company and Ouseburn Farm in Newcastle.
