Ullapool Bookshop stocks a wide range of titles, specialising in books about the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Great Outdoors (in particular hill-walking, kayaking and cycling), General History, Geology, a Children’s section for all ages, Biography and a wide range of General Fiction in both Hardback and Paperback. As well as books, we offer a large selection of cards for almost any occasion, Postcards, Art materials, Calendars and Diaries, Local and National Ordnance Survey Maps and guides, Fishing guides particular to the surrounding area, and also Pictures (both framed and unframed) of Wester Ross and Sutherland. We have also developed a new section of Audio products, in particular CDs (Classical and Scottish), DVDs (General and Scottish) and both Adult and Children’s Audiobooks. We also offer Internet Access at £1 for 15 minutes and printing for 25p per page. Currently we only sell our books in the shop, but we receive enquiries via email and phone daily, and are happy to offer a Mail Order service to all of our customers. With the advent of the 7 day a week Ferry sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis), the Ullapool Bookshop is now open seven days a week all year round, therefore providing a yearly service for visitors and also to those who live in and around Ullapool and Ross-shire. Ullapool Bookshop participates in World Book Day, promoting special books for Children, as well as World Book Night as being a registered shop for givers. During early May, the Ullapool Bookshop also is involved in the Ullapool Book Festival, with all the authors’ books on display throughout the month, as well as welcoming authors who visit from time to time.

Over 100 books in politics, history, economy, religion, culture, poetry, literature and novels are gathered for you through this first-time book fair. Children also can find books and stories from the Arabic heritage in Arabic language. Books are in both Arabic and English languages. Prestigious and Well-known publishers such as Al Saqi, Neel Wa Furat and Al Fourqan are providing latest publications on the very contemporary and controversial issues in the Arab World. Around 35 award-wining novels are there to explore. A popular Saudi journalist and writer (Abdullah Al-Maghlouth) is visiting to speak and sign copies of his latest books. The discussion session will discuss two heated topics. The first one is the influence of reading on Arab Uprising asking an important question; ‘Do you think Arab uprising would have taken a different course if Arabs read more?’.The second topic is on the current education methods adopted in raising children in Arab world and is to be chaired by the writer Abduallah Al Maghlouth who wrote a book on this topic. For Arabs, it is a great chance to go back to roots and re-discover the beauty of Arabic language and literature. For non-Arabs it is a chance to read about the current issues in the Middle East and get a taste of the Arabic poetry. If you want to be a blogger or if interested in book clubsyou should come and show your interest! It is also a chance to taste Arabic sweets and traditional drinks which will provided through the event. With an aim to make this an annual event, Arab society is planning to make this a success!
