Mondo Comico

Mondo Comico

8 Stoney Street, Nottingham ,
Secret Origin Working in a comic and games shop was the best thing that ever happened to mild mannered nerd, David J. Smith and when Travelling Man closed down in 2008 (still much missed around these parts) he knew that this was his chance to go ahead with his dream, nay, his destiny to be his own master. Unfortunately this took a little longer than he would have liked due to run ins with his Arch-nemesis, The local water company. Still the battle was finally won and Mondo Comico was born. Alter-Ego Mondo Comico literally means World of Comics or Funny World but David mostly just liked the way it sounded. If he could cram some more 'o's in there he probably would but figures he would run out of space on the shop sign. He had the name in mind for close to 7 years or so before actually getting a store to go with it. Mondo Excellento Mondo Comico offers a wide variety of comic and gaming pleasures. From the latest Super-hero soap opera shenanigans to gritty crime thrillers, slice of life dramas or just the plain outrageously bizzare there are comics in here for everyone. If boardgaming is your thing perrenial classics like Settlers of Catan or Carcassonne or more culty items like Monty Python Fluxx or Talisman may sate your appetite. Dungeons and Dragons is the most famous Role Playing Game but there's whole worlds of differing styles out there to also be sampled here. Interested in Lovecraft? Then Call of Cthulhu is the one. Love the Star Wars movies? There are plenty of books to help you play in that universe. And, of course, so much more. Collectible Card games your bag? Mondo Comico stocks a variety of lines: Magic the Gathering, Yu Gi Oh, UFS and, naturally, more. Defeating Villainy at every turn. But Mondo Comico doesn't just sell you shiny things it also lets you play them. With seating for 30+ people regular events are held in store for boardgaming, roleplaying and Magic the Gathering with more being planned all the time. Fancy playing some games but don't have the space at home, then come along and use the tables at Mondo Comico for absolutely no cost. Looking for other like minded people? Use the notice boards around the store or the facebook page and soon you will have fun and excitement at your fingertips. Hidden Lair Mondo Comico can be found on Stoney Street opposite The Old Angel, next to the College building Just a few minutes out of the town centre in Hockley - where all the cool, discerning niche stores go.
