Steve Grogan | Photography
I've been taking photographs since my time at Oldham 6th Form College in 1992; I was formally trained in film photography and darkroom development right up until leaving Salford University in 1998.
The motivation for my work comes from my love of nature.
I particularly enjoy exploring areas of natural beauty and will try to spend my time there completely alone, waiting for the right light and weather conditions so that I can capture what I see and present what emotions stirred in me at the time.
I take inspiration from many artists, past and present. In my college days I became a huge fan of French post-impressionist, Georges Seurat as well as Spanish surrealist, Salvador Dali.
I've also studied the work of American photographer Ansel Adams, best known for his evocative photographs of Yosemite National Park from the 1920s through to the 1950s. I guess this is where my love of black and white landscape work comes from!
I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
I sell my work so if anything catches your eye please feel free to contact me to discuss further.
