Healthy Planet Books for Free Swindon

Healthy Planet Books for Free Swindon

1-3 Devizes Road, Swindon ,
Healthy Planet Books for Free help reduce landfill and provide free reading materials for all by buying old books which would otherwise go to landfill and giving them out for free in their shops! We are trying to open one of these shops in Swindon, but to do this we require volunteers. If you're the sort of person who's reliable, is interested in community projects or volunteering, like meeting new people, or just like having fun, then you're the sort of person we need to kick-start this project! Contact Rachel on the number below to apply or enquire. The idea is that once the store is set up and opened, it will be run by volunteers. Along with giving out free books to anyone who wants them, we also aim to hold free themed events or activities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Reg. Charity Number 1122475

YAW has been working with Wiltshire’s young people for over 60 years. Our success has been built upon developing innovative, effective and exciting services and through the expertise of our friendly and dedicated staff. In 2009 Youth Action Wiltshire merged with the charity and is now the dedicated youth services arm of Community First. YAW is governed by Community First’s Trustee Board. A YAW Committee made up of former YAW and current Community First trustees and staff oversees the work and organises fundraising activities and events to provide additional, dedicated income to support YAW services.

The English Defence League (EDL) is a human rights organisation that exists to protect the inalienable rights of all people to protest against radical Islam’s encroachment into the lives of non Muslims. It also recognises that Muslims themselves are frequently the main victims of some Islamic traditions and practices. The Government should ensure the individual human rights of members of the Muslim community to openly criticise Islamic orthodoxy, to challenge Islamic community leaders without fear of retribution, to receive full equality before the law (including equal rights for Muslim women), and to leave Islam if they see fit and to do so without fear or censure. Muslims have the right to demand reform of their religion to make it more relevant to the needs of the modern world, including the need to fully respect other groups in society without fear of retribution. It calls upon the Government to repeal legislation that prevents effective freedom of speech that is essential if the human rights abuses that sometimes manifest themselves around Islam are to be stopped. The EDL believes that radical Islam has a stranglehold on British Muslims. It keeps them fearful and isolated, especially the women that it encases in the Burqa. It misrepresents their views, stifles freedom of expression, and radicalises their children, whilst continually doing a discredit to those who do wish to peacefully co-exist with their fellow Britons.
