You may not have thought it, but 60,000 people in Coventry are living on the edge of poverty. Four city centre churches came together in November last year with one idea. Two months later, food was being distributed to dozens of people across the city. Most people who come to foodbanks for emergency food are not homeless. They are families who have hit hard times; people who have been made redundant or are experiencing benefit delay; or they may be refugees or asylum seekers. They are the UK’s hidden hungry.

The Coventry Sunni Movement was founded in September 2009 by Shaykh Nabeel Afzal at the Al-Madina Islamic Centre (Madrassa & Library) in Coventry, England. The centre opened in September 2009 on Foleshill Road and relocated to Queen Mary's Road in July 2011. We offer a variety of classes for all age groups and Jamaat is led on a daily basis. The church grew out of many churches in the town which closed and amalgamated in the former Ramoth Baptist Chapel in the 1970's. It now embraces all mainstream denominations and has a thriving Junior section and a lively congregation. Regular Services are Family Worship at 10.30 and Evening Worship at 6 pm.
